9. “Helmets are hot!” 戴頭盔太熱。
They can be when you’re not riding. Air ventilation and cooling systems work best while you’re riding. Also, CHEAPER helmets with fewer “air holes” ARE HOTTER. In hot weather, wear a sweat band around your head to keep sweat out of your eyes. In cold weather, wear ear warmers or thin cloth hoods (called balaklavas) under your helmet for warmth. 當你沒有騎行的時候， 戴頭盔感覺太熱。當你騎行的時候，頭盔的空氣通風和冷卻系統(tǒng)得到了最好的利用， 而且， 便宜的頭盔只有很少幾個通風口，所以會熱。在炎熱的天氣里， 戴一個“止汗帶”在你的頭上， 防止汗水流到眼睛里。在寒冷的季節(jié)里，要戴“護耳套”或者戴有彈性的薄的頭巾（名字叫balaklavas）在里面保暖。
10. “Helmets are uncomfortable.”戴頭盔不舒服。
Cheaper ones ARE OFTEN less comfortable. They’re sold where NO ONE knows how to correctly fit or adjust them which makes all the difference in helmet comfort. 便宜的頭盔一般都不太舒服。（制造商）他們沒有一個人知道怎么樣才是是正確的合適的、或者調節(jié)頭盔所有不同的地方使得頭盔更加合適。
11. “I can’t keep the darned thing adjusted!”不能忍受不能調節(jié)尺寸的頭盔。
Bike shops are experts at proper helmet sizing and adjustment, and are happy to correctly adjust or re-adjust your helmet for you.

12. “Helmets are expensive.” 頭盔很貴。
The average head trauma, ambulance ride, emergency room visit, x-rays, doctor’s bills, etc., IF THERE’S NO SERIOUS INJURY will easily cost a thousand dollars! That’s almost 50 TIMES the cost of a helmet! 一般的頭損傷，救護車、急診室、醫(yī)生費用等等， 如果不是很嚴重的損傷，就不會花掉上千美元的費用， 相當于50倍的一個頭盔的價格。
13. “Helmets are ugly. 頭盔很難看。

16. “How can helmets protect you? They BREAK if you fall!”頭盔是怎樣保護你的？如果你摔倒，頭盔會破裂， 而不是你（的腦袋）。
Helmets are MADE to break. That's what they're SUPPOSED to do! Helmets are made of a material that absorbs a blow and will fracture, crush, or break when the head hits something. THAT’S HOW THEY PROTECT THE BRAIN (…and why they’re called “brain buckets”!). Helmets are designed to withstand ONE FALL! Replace a helmet after ANY head impact. It did its job! 頭盔的目的就是破裂， 這就是頭盔應該的作用。頭盔所用的材質就是一種遭到突然的撞擊就破碎， 當頭部撞擊到什么東西時， 頭盔就會粉碎，或者破裂。這就是頭盔保護頭部的作用。（也就是為什么頭盔被稱呼為“頭的桶子”）頭盔的設計是至少經受住一次的撞擊！在任何一次的碰撞后，要換掉舊的頭盔，這就是頭盔的作用。
A properly fitted helmet should be adjusted to be snug on the head, with the front just above the eyebrows, and the retention straps positioned and tightened to keep the helmet “in place” on the head without sliding around. Bike shop people are EXCELLENT at properly adjusting helmets. 一個合適尺寸的頭盔是可調節(jié)的，頭盔的前沿剛好在眉毛的上方，頭盔的下方起固定作用的束帶扣緊后， 頭盔的位置恰到好處，而且頭盔不能左右滑動。自行車店里的人在調節(jié)頭盔這方面是最棒的。
WEAR A HELMET WHENEVER YOU RIDE. It’s like a “seat belt” for your brain! 無論任何時候騎車都要戴頭盔。對你的頭部來講，頭盔就象汽車上的安全帶。
ONLY buy helmets meeting the federal government’s CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) standard for impact protection (applies to all helmets manufactured after March 1999). 買的頭盔要符合CPSC的標準。（根據1999年3月頭盔制造標準頒布的）Stick a label inside your helmet with your name, address, phone number, etc. on it for identification purposes in an emergency. 把你的名字、地址、聯(lián)系電話等資料寫個標簽粘貼在頭盔的里面， 以備在緊急情況下使用。
